Whole milk is preferable for a milk shake because it has fuller flavor and will make a thicker shake but if you prefer skimmed or soy milk, feel free to use them but they are just thinner than whole milk so if you using it then you adding less milk or little more ice cream for consistency. You wouldn't want your milkshake watery! Remember that the better quality ingredients you put in your milkshake, the better your milkshake so if you can get a high-quality locally produced milk, perfect!
4. Blend your milkshake for about one minute. If you are using a blender, don't just turn it on and let it go. Remember you are not blending tomatoes. Alternate between pulsing the blender and then hand-mixing with a spoon. This will give you the same effect as a spindle milkshake mixer. No matter what method you use, just make sure your shake remains thick; you know this when you insert a spoon and tries to pull it out and the shake gives little resistance.
